Ward was the first child born to MonroeLouisianaon 15 April, 1976. Ward attended the private Christian primary school, called Monroe Christian School. She attended Ouachita High School to pursue her second year of education. But, she transferred from there to River Oaks High School after the summer. After graduating she briefly attended Northeast Louisiana University. Ward quit high school at thirteen years old and began modeling. She decided to try acting in the following years. In the 1970s, Ward played a minor role uncredited in the soap opera daytime All My Children. Then she was offered a brief role in NBC's prime-time teen drama Malibu Shores. Ward was cast in her debut role on the Sunset Beach daytime soap opera and portrayed the romantically virginal Meg Cummings.
